Penguins Spring Launch Recap

In what has been a non-traditional start to the 2021 spring season, the Penguins program had spring practices for the first time to get players prepared for a long awaited return to high school seasons. The Penguins had eight teams participating at Deven, MA and played some competitive lacrosse all day long at the Spring Launch.

The Penguins 2022 program had two teams playing throughout the day. The Varsity 1 Team went 2-0 with convincing wins against Summit Lacrosse and Bridgeton Academy. The Varsity 2 Team went 1-1 on the day with a hard fought 5-4 victory against Winchester. The Penguins 2023 also went undefeated on the day and the Penguins 2024 went 1-1 with a great win against Summit Lacrosse and tough loss against and older Pembroke High School Team.

I was really impressed with how all of our high school teams played on Sunday. We had some great practices in Weymouth leading up to the day and we were excited that we could get some competitive lacrosse games for our teams before they tried out for their town high schools the following week. It’s the first time we have scheduled practices in the spring but we felt with seasons canceled last year it would be important to get off on the right foot

The Middle School and Youth Penguins also had a great day as they achieved a combined winning record overall. The 2025 and 2029/30 Penguins went undefeated with an epic comeback win against the RI Bulldogs 7-6. The 2027/28 Penguins picked up a great win early in the day.

After the Spring Launch, the 2025, 2026, 2027/28, and 2029/30 will continue competing during the spring with games scheduled Saturday afternoon in May against a variety of New England clubs.
