Lake George Invitational Recap – 2022 Blue and 2027/28 win Championship

10 Penguins teams traveled to Lake George, NY to finish off the 2019 summer season. With what turned out to be the most successful tournament of the summer, three Penguins teams played in championship games to cap off an excellent summer.

The Penguins 2027/2028 team continued its dominance as it went to its second consecutive championship game of the summer. The team went 1-1-1 during pool play and managed to get into the playoffs on a tie-breaker. They saved their best for the playoffs as they quickly took care of a Falcons team by the score of 9-0. This set up a rematch against a very tough Unity Team which handed them a 10-2 loss the previous day. The game was back and forth throughout and saw the Penguins down by two goals with less than five minutes to play. They managed to tie the game with a minute remaining and the game went to a braveheart to determine the winner. The Penguins were able to win the face-off after a ground ball battle and went down for the game winning goal. Coach Weiss on the summer, “The team played tough all summer long and really came together these last two tournaments. To come away with not one but two braveheart victories is impressive. I am proud of the way the team played and its a testament to how hard they worked in practice all summer.”

The 2022 Blue team also saw itself in the championship game after going 4-0 in pool play. They faced a tough Rhino Syracuse Team and defeated them 7-3 to move on to the championship game against Team 802. The Penguins rose to the occasion and after a close first half managed to seal the victory and earn their first championship of the summer. Coach Spencer on a great end to the summer, “Overall I think the team improved at every event we played this summer. We had some dominating performances from James Carr in the cage and Colin Birch at the face-off X. Being able to finish the summer off with a championship is impressive and I am proud of how the team played all summer long.”

In addition to the two championship victories the Penguins had success as the 2024 Blue team went to the championship game and the 2025 Penguins lost a close playoff game. The summer concluded with multiple championship appearances and victories across all teams.

The Fall season will start back up after Labor Day and please view all team pages for information on schedules and events.
