WATERBURY, Conn. – Post University has named Anthony Fitti as its new head men’s lacrosse coach. Fitti most-recently served as an assistant coach at his alma mater UMass-Boston, where he was a two-sport athlete competing in lacrosse and ice hockey.
Fitti served as an assistant on the Beacons’ staff for four years, beginning as a volunteer assistant in 2014. He was promoted to assistant coach in 2015 and offensive coordinator for the 2017 season. In 2017, under Little East Conference (LEC) Coach of the Year Tyler Low, he helped mentor an All-LEC attacker and the nation’s leader in shooting percentage. The Beacons advanced to the LEC Championships for the first time in school history.
Outside of UMass-Boston, Fitti also was an assistant coach at Wellesley High School from 2013-16. He is also the Director of Operations of PrimeTime Lacrosse, which organizes Penguins Select teams, camps, clinics, and events throughout the New England area.
Fitti played in 51 games as a goalkeeper at UMass-Boston, amassing 457 saves and a .529 save percentage. He was a co-captain and was once named LEC Goalie of the Week during his senior season in 2012.
He takes over a Post squad that finished 5-8 last year, its fourth season as a program. The Eagles will no longer be independent as the 2018 season marks the first year the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) will sponsor men’s lacrosse.
